Working at the WaHo

Conversation between me and a co-worker today...

Kristen: John, can you help me look up this invoice and give me a better description of what it was for?
John: (After spacing out on me a few times mid-invoice-look-up.) Sorry about that. I'm operating at like 80% today due to my blood loss.
Kristen: John, you gave blood a week ago. I'm pretty sure you should be back to your old self.
John: I know. But you should know what I'm talking about. I mean, I'm sure you have less energy with all that extra weight you are carrying around.

Ha! If anyone else had said this, I would have totally been offended. But you'd have to know John to understand how innocent it was. I couldn't help but bust out laughing (probably to keep from crying)!

Another funny work story. Today was our controllers birthday celebration. It's tradition to have a dessert for every birthday or anniversary in our department. A cake was ordered from the Great American Cookie Company. In past experiences, you never know what the cake is actually going to say. One time we ordered a cake that was supposed to say, "Happy Birthday Jenny! Sorry Carissa!" (Because Carissa has a hard time turning down cookie cake and she was trying to be good.) When the cake was picked up it said, "Happy Birthday Jenny! Sorry Pariffa." Except "sorry" looked like "sexy". So now Sexy Pariffa is referred to a lot.

The cake today was supposed to say, "Happy Birthday. Here's to 50 more years." (But he's not 50 yet.) This is what came out:

Good times. I love my job. Seriously.

21 weeks

We had a busy week. We picked up and put the little man's furniture together earlier this week. We put on music, grabbed the tools, and had so much fun spending time hanging out and putting our son's furniture together. It was cool to spend time in the room as "Brantley's room" and not the "scrapbook room".

I started fading out at about 10 o'clock when Craig had just started on the dresser. At 12:30 when I heard him finishing up and getting ready to come to bed, I got out of bed to go check it out. He had it set up with the fire truck decorations on top of it. It looks so great. We are still going to paint the walls and there are a lot of other plans I have, but I'm loving it so far!

Today we went and did some serious people watching at the Renaissance Festival. The people watching alone provided enough entertainment to justify the ticket price. It was a good time. I am 21 weeks today and from this point forward we are going to try to be regular about taking pictures. So here are a few we took tonight when we got home...

Halfway There

Saturday marked 20 weeks. We are half way there and only have 20 more weeks before we get to meet the little man. This week Brantley is the size of a banana!

I've worked more this weekend on getting his room cleaned out. We've gotten a few things to decorate his room. I've set them out on the kitchen table to keep reminding me. I think his furniture should come this next week. So I have more work to do. But it will come together! Can you guess what theme we are going with for his room?

Crazy to think that this is the same house my parents brought me home to almost 27 years ago. And crazy to think that the room I'm working like crazy to clean out and get ready for him, is the same room I spent the first seven years falling asleep in every night.

Definitely a Boy!

There was no denying it! We found out Monday that we are having a little boy. Can't even begin to tell you how excited we are. When this picture flashed up on the screen, we instantly knew.

Craig and I have decided on a name, Brantley James Culberson. Craig and I have "our" song called Whenever We're Alone that a country singer from Georgia, Brantley Gilbert, sings. I don't know that he is that well known right now, but we love his music. So that is where Brantley came from. And James is a family name for both of us. So he has a little bit of Craig's dad, my grandfather, and my uncle all wrapped up into one. It's funny because we had the boy name picked out fairly soon but we've been struggling with the girl names. We finally just decided not to think about it much until we knew what we were having. :)

I go back for another ultrasound on the 3rd of May to check up on him and make sure he's doing alright. Looking forward to seeing him again!

Found a quote that I think I am going to get vinyl lettering done in for the wall in his nursery...
"He was the tiniest thing I ever decided to put my whole life into."

Craig and I booked our cabin for our anniversary weekend in a few weekends. Can't believe we are coming up on our four year anniversary and that it will also be our last one where we just have ourselves and some pups to care about. We're so excited and ready for the next chapter in our lives, but definitely makes moments like these worth really taking in more than before.

Food Aversions

Never again will I eat chicken nuggets and Velveeta shells and cheese. Not separate and definitely not together.
