Quote I Want to Remember...

I finished this book (for the second time) this weekend.  I read it a few years back and after seeing Something Borrowed about a month ago, I realized I couldn't remember how this book ended.  So I bought and read it again.  And it was just as good the second time around.

I love re-reading books and picking something else out of them that I might have missed before.  This time I picked out this quote and it was too good not to write down to remember...

"But maybe that's what it all comes down to.  Love, not as a surge of passion, but as a choice to commit to something, someone, no matter what obstacles or temptations stand in the way.  And maybe making that choice, again and again, day in and day out, year after year, says more about love than never having a choice to make at all." -Emily Giffin

Today Picking Brantley Up From Daycare...

Sandy: "You guys must play in the floor with him a lot."
Me:  "We do.  Why?"
Sandy:  "Because every time I sat in the floor today, he could be across the room and would charge towards me going 'Rarrrrrrrr!'.  He'd climb all over me."

My kid is the coolest.

This Weekend

This weekend was great.  We did a whole lot of nothing and it was just what I needed.  Lots of quality time with my boys.
Lots of laughing.  This kid cracks me up.
We had our first swimming lesson with Julie.  It was fun hanging out in the pool (we had it to ourselves) and spending time with Julie.  Brantley is not a fan of putting his head under water OR laying on his back, but we're going to keep working on it.

Daddy built the boy a swing set.  I don't want to brag or anything but there pretty much isn't anything that my husband can't do.   It comes off of the back porch.  We've spent the last two nights out there swinging after dinner and before we put him to bed.  Fun way to spend our evenings.

We played with our bath toys.
And we ate lots and lots of pancakes (and a waffle from our trip to Waffle House on Saturday).
He is such a ham.
Just what I needed after a really long week!

10 Months!

I am two months away from having a one year old!?  I must step up my party planning mode.  I know you aren't going to remember your first birthday party - but the mama in me wants it to be special and perfect - to celebrate you!

At 10 months, you...

  • Weigh (not sure of this I will edit and add tomorrow since you are asleep now)
  • Wear size 4 diapers.
  • Are wearing mostly 12 months clothing.
  • Can say "dog", "bye bye", and "uh oh".  You say this one word over and over, but I have no clue what you are saying.  It's your own lingo.
  • Have started clapping on your own.  Anytime we say "yay" you clap your hands for doing something good.  I was on my way home from work with you in the backseat when you started clapping in your carseat.  The light turned green and I was honked at because I was too excited and not paying attention.
  • You're still a sleeping champ.  This morning you slept from 7:30 pm to 8:45 am.  A good Sunday morning treat for mommy!
  • You've started eating more table food.  Waffles, pancakes, bananas, avocados, sweet potatoes, chicken tenders, spaghetti, blueberries, etc.  There isn't much that I put in front of you that you won't eat.  Actually, there is nothing.
  • There is pretty much nothing greater than the excitement that comes from you when I pick you up from daycare in the evenings.
  • You love when I dance.  It makes you laugh hysterically.  I don't blame you.
  • You've started walking with the help of your push walker.  I don't see it being long until you are walking all over the place.
  • Your biggest ticklish spot is your thigh.  I love to hear your sweet laugh.  There is nothing greater!
  • You started going to daycare full time at the beginning of the month.  You love Sandy and love playing with the other kids.

Here Lately...

It has been awhile since I did an iPhone photo update.  We've stayed pretty busy this summer in between me having to work on Saturdays in June.  Now that is behind us and we get to enjoy our full weekends again.  And this weekend has already been pretty great.

For my birthday, Anna suggested going to the lake.  So the Culbersons tagged along with the Browns.  Brantely loved it.
By the time we headed home he was out.  Head down and down for the count.
A lot of nights he is better off if I just put him in his crib.  He's used to putting himself to sleep and can get a little irritated if I rock him.  This night was not the norm and I took full advantage of it. I love when he has his snuggly moments.
We spent one Sunday at Craig's boss' lake house.  We played in the water, swam, and they had us stay for dinner.  It was a good time!
What is a boat ride without a few interesting facial expressions from Brantley?  He loves his life jacket in case you couldn't tell from the picture below.
Met my boys at Bass Pro Shop after work one Saturday.  Brantley loved the fish tank.  Craig looks just as excitd as Brantley minus the mouth wide open.
On our way home from a day of shopping.  He looks thrilled.
Hanging out one Sunday afternoon in the carport while we waited for Gammy to come pick us up to go shopping.  Craig was replacing my brake pads and we were stir crazy.  So Gammy came to the rescue.

Gammy has created a mall ride machine.  We ran out of quarters or he would have gone all day.  He takes his driving very seriously.
This one was today.  I love that he is eating more table food now.  He loves waffles and pancakes.  But if he knows what is good for him - he will like waffles the best.  Craig and I both were craving Waffle House today.  So Brantley got his first Waffle House dining expierence.  I think he'll become a regular. These waffles are huge and he ate over half of it plus a thing of bananas.  Don't have to worry about his appetite - that is for sure.

Perfect Fit

After putting you to bed tonight, I took a hot bath and read my book.  When I got out of the bath tub all I could think about was sneaking in to your room and snuggling with you.  So that's exactly what I did.  I came armed with a pacifier in case I woke you up.  But I ended up not needing it.

I will never get over how perfectly you fit in my arms.  How your head fits so perfectly under my chin in the crook of my neck and shoulders.  How your chunky legs stretch out across me and your hand finds my chest.  I love listening to your breathing and rubbing my nose on the top of your head.

You are the most amazing gift ever.

Love,
Mama
